Pico Help!!!!

I came up on a glass block at work. Of course the first thing I thought of was a pico tank. The block is really cool. It will hold about 2 gal. Not much but I think I can make it work. I was just wondering what the best (small) powerhead they have out there. Also can anyone tell me what kind of lighting I could get. The Tank is not very wide. Only about 4 inchs wide.

What is the length and height? The dimensions of the container will cause many problems such as finding suitable lighting, as well as aquascaping. You should be able to fit a 9 or 13watt PC bulb over the tank although it would require you to build a canopy as a retrofit is needed.

For flow either a Microjet or Minijet is slim enough to fit in the tank however I would keep it on the lowest setting. They are both 1.5" wide. Maybe you could place a small HOB filter on the tank and run some chemical media.

You might want to consider picking up a AGA 2.5g glass tank instead of using the container. The AGA tank has pretty good dimensions(12"Lx6"Wx8"H) for using as a pico especially for a desk. It would be much easier to aquascape, more options for lighting, and more room for corals. They are only around $10-15 at local fish stores.

Maxijet makes a mini-jet that might work wonderully for you.

personally I would not use that glass enclosure you have there, it seems as thought it cant viewed from the side anyway. you could go to petsmart and buy 2.5gallon for $10, thats what I would do!

Thank You for everyone input. Im going to make this work. I know its going to be tight. I need to find is some small rubble. I think The Lighting might be a problem. I will not be doing a PETSFAT pico.

I'd use an airlift system to move the water and some kind of light on a free-stand so that you can adjust the distance for your needs.
