Josh, make sure you aerate the water really well when you are treating. If you don't have an air pump, use a powerhead with an air tube. Remember though if you use it with the copper, it cannot go back in the tank.

Good Luck!

he didnt f***in make it...i was watching him and he had nothing left...after the FW dip he was doing good for a few minutes and then all of a sudden he went like limp and got sucked into the powerhead so i killed the power quick and that was it...no more nemos gf....aaaahhh i hate losing fish!!!!!!!! on the positive side i still have the other one and he looks good yea well.....grrrr:(

That sucks, man. It was a valiant effort. I'd e-mail Dr Mac and ask if he has a guarantee period. LiveAquaria has a 14 day period, I'd think Pacific East would offer something.

Unfortunate. Keep an eye on the other fish, and be ready to deal with another outbreak. I would say it was probably the stress of shipping, plus the Clark's chasing him around. I assume your water tested out? A nice sized water change probably couldn't hurt...

Did the clown get paler in color before he died? Did he have what looked like a long string of whites fish waste? If so the clown my have had brook (brookynella?? Not sure on the spelling) which is common with newly bought clownfish and everything. Umm I would try asking what happened and show the pics in the Anemone Section of Reefcentral, they may be able to tell you what it was and if you may need to keep an eye on your other clown just in case. HTH

yes he did get pale...some of his white stripes look like they lost their white too

and yes he did have white strings hanging out...(waste?) idk but from what i heard he had brookynellosis (sp?) but yea i checked it out on another forum and they said what it was and what to do but it was probably to far along for me to really do nething...same thing happened with my watchman goby one second i put themin the next thing i know im holding a dead fish...and its not like FW where u pay 2 bucks for a fish...im just glad he wasnt a 100 dollar fish or something...gotta stay postive...nemo looks great!!

Yeah, brook is fairly common on clown and if you don't nip it in the butt in the very beginning, odds are clowns wont pull through. I've had it happen to a few $20 clowns, Im just thankful they weren't rare expensive clowns like others.
But yeah just keep an eye on the second one, and be prepared to treat it for the brook.
But Im sure he--well probably she now huh?--Will be fine

emonnemoo,

I would never recommend a FW dip for a sick fish. Doing a dip stresses them out ever more. If you need to treat I would suggest using a different tank and a Seachem or Mardel product. The FW that you are dipping the fish in has to have the same PH and temp as the tank it came from. Good luck going forward.

Improve your filtration and water quality. something is out of balance biologically at the microbe level. that is what makes fish vulnerable to the bad microbes that are always in the water. Bad water. you got to get the good microbes out numbering the bad ones. and make the water safe and healthy for fish to live in.
do you have bio balls in that sump yet? that might help. sure they are nitrate factories, but they do the basic job of rapidly converting waste to NH4, then NO3, then nitrates. nitrates are the secondary problem.
first things first. keep the water fit to live in.
