[PICS] So I got an anemone....

I have had it for three days now. It is an almost translucent neon green, the tips appear to be bubbling. Do you think it is bleached, or will it stay this color? It glows pretty awesome under actinics.

It has moved to a bad spot, however, as it is hard to view. I would like it to move to another spot, but dont want to stress it out too soon. Should I wait a week or two to see if it moves. If it does not, should I blow it gently with a powerhead?

It seems to be prefering almost no flow, but it is under a ledge so I'm not sure if its getting the lighting it requires. I have 4 - 48w T5's. Water quality is excellent. Slight hair algae problem.

With the proper lighting and food your anemone will color up normally. Your lighting is fine. If your having a problem with hair algae, phosphates are often the problem. You will want to do regular water changes (with RO/DI water), aggressive skimming, and some phosphate removing filter media like polyfilter.

Just my two cents but I would remove the clown till he recovers. A large clown is tough on a new anemone.

I'm currently running a polyfilter and a product called 'phoszorb' as I couldnt find any phosban at the LFS. I'm using RODI and scrubbing my liverock with a toothbrush to remove the hair algae when I do water changes. Would I need to run the rowaphos in a media reactor? I have been watching the anemone and the clown seems to be pretty gentle with it.

I think the clownfish will be okay to leave in there. If anything it chases away any peppermint shrimp that attempt to eat the food out of the anemones tentacles.

no a media reactor isnt need you just have to make sure water is flowing through the rowaphos.

and when you use the algamac ara dust the piece of food with the powder.
