Pics without a flash - Nikon D80

Does anyone know how to take pics without using the flash on the D80? I can't seem to get it to work.

Have you tried aperature priority on a tripod?

hold the flash button on the left side, and scroll the wheel until it shows the flash with a cross through it.:beer:
