Pin spacer alignment?

This is probably a stupid question, but I'm confused about the pin spacer instructions. My tank is 75 gallons, and the glass thickness is 1/4". What am I supposed to do? Can't I just hook the pump up? It says the align the cord with the glass, I just don't get it.

Look closely at the pin spacer which is the boot that sits over the motor. There is a blue sticker on it with all the thicknesses. Since your glass is 1/4 then look for the 1/4 thickness on the spacer sticker. Align that with the cord where it goes into the motor. Gently insert all 3 pins and seat the spacer boot firmly in place and flush all around the motor. This assures your magnets are spaced properly for optimum performance.
Sometimes the dry gasket adheres to the spacer label so you may have to peel that back to see the spacer sticker.
