pink sarchophyton

You know Nammy and Keith - my pink sarcophyton has turned yellow. It is funny - almost immediately under my PCs in my 20 g nano it looked yellow and never turned pink. Two months ago I finally moved into my new 37 cube with MHs (10K) and it is still yellow. Don't you think this is weird? I mean I admired the pink variety in Upstate posts for about a year - finally got one - and it refuses to pink up??!!??

I keep wondering if I send it back to one of you will it turn back?

I still love it, but what do you think I am doing differently? I am not home now, but when I get back I will recheck all my parameters and post.

Next month the Boston brs is having a lecture on lights, I thought I would ask this question - maybe it is pink and I just need different lights.

MY Sarco are pink, under MH or VHO. I haven't see them under any other lights. My MH are 20K and the VHO are 10K.
Do you have any actinic lighting in your tank?

When I had my 10k halides with 03blue actintic supplements they were yellowish like you mention during the day, but pinkish at night (actintics) I now have 20k halides with the same actinics, and my sarc from nammy is a nice pink color compared to some of my other toadstools/sarcs which have yellowish polyps or the ultra green polyp ones, My girl-friend Sarah was very happy that it now looks like it did in Norm's tank...

I'm thinking you need a 20k or some heavy actintic's to supplement what you already have

You wont get super fast growth with the 20k but all of your corals will just pop out at you with that beautiful blue hue

I know you wanna see that thing be PINK, I remember how excitied you were

The MH light I got came with a 10K bulb, no actinics. I was thinking about replacing it with a 20K, but you know me - I only make moves very slowly so it will be a little while.

I am kind of hoping it is the light not my parameters. One of my reefer friends out here was explaining to me that bulbs rated the same by different manufacturers may show tanks in different in slightly different ways so I think I have to experiment a little.

Keep in mind I had them with 20K only and with the VHO only and both look pink. Hope htis helps.

I am always amazed to see what happens to some of my frags when I move them from one tank to another, or one level to another in the same tank, or, the color changes when they go to someone elses tank!

I have an Acro which looked brown with MH, turned blue with T5's. I have a Sacro which was pink with MH and turned drab with T5's. I have a Kenya which was brown on a lower level and is turning tan in a higher level of PC.

One never knows and there seems to be no one good answer, unfortunately
