I picked up a pink square anthias from my lfs 2 days ago he was active at the lfs but i have recently put him in the tank and he has been hiding in the rocks ever since. I have a brown clown and a porcelan crab in the tank and nothing else not sure whats going on. I have fed them mysis shrimp, bloodworms, marine flakes, and brine shrimp and still no movement.

They have a tendency to hide the first few days then will come out a little they can be a pain to get to start eating females are easier for some reason, try baby mollies or guppies they will usually tag them and then get them on mysis you will have it feed multiple times a day or they will just waste away even if they are eating.

Always see if they eat at the fish store first. Ive seen so many of those that just dont eat at all and waist away.

I tried this anthias is a 210g reef a few yrs ago. I think the key is in the acclimating process. The first squareback died after a few weeks but I think I put him in to fast. The second one I drip acclimated and it was fine and with me for 2 yrs until I took the tank down.

These Anthias can easily go a week or more before they even begin moving around. I've kept a few of them and none ate any sooner than that. BTW, they really dislike intense lighting.

Most if not all Anthias species need to be fed 3 to 4, possibly 5 times a day to survive. They are carnivores so flakes wont cut it. I would let the fish chill for a little while, but continut to try to feed it. Dont let uneaten food stay in tank. Most LFS will keep their salinity lower than a home aquarium and even a moderate acclimation time to higher salinity can shock or stress them a little. Dont give up.
