just wondering how long before they hook up in the tank, the shrimp made his home right away, the goby went the other direction, its a 365 gallon 8 ft long, just wondering do i get him another goby, can i have 2 pistols in the same tank, any suggestions, the pistol is a tiger pistol, the goby is a tiger goby, theres another goby at the lfs sweet lookin should i get him or not??? thanks

hang out together in the same burrow the shrimp makes for them, not sure the purpose of the goby but i believe to kinda protect the shrimp, lota lookers need some more comments, very many people out there had success with theirs??

I have a Tiger Pistol, and a Yellow watchman, I pput them in and they found each other right away, of course they were already paied at the store, so they knew each other :). Also I have a 55G with a 365 I imagine it will take a little time for them to stumble upon each other, and to answer your question pink ployd, the shrimp digs a burrow in the sand, and the goby guards the entrance and warns the shrimp of any predators, and the goby gets a free burrow out of the deal, because he can't dig it for himself.

I had my yellow watchman in the tank for a few days and then added the pistol. The pistol found my watchman almost immediately. Of course, it is only a 29g tank. They stick together pretty well and have made several burrows.

My YWG and Tiger pistol came from two different places but it took them about 30 seconds to find each other. I imagine that in 365 it may take a long time. You should put the shrimp first, let him dig the burrow and then release the goby right next to the burrow. That how I did it ad it seemed to work.

i did what u suggested idua that was yesterday, the goby stayed there for a while but the powder blue chased him to the other end i havent seen the goby since, but the shrimp is going crazy in his new home, thanks for the input guys hope they find each other, still part of my first ? if they dont would it be safe to get another goby??

i have a ywg and a candy cane pistol paired up, i had another one i think a japanese in the same tank.(55gal). the candy cane is only about 1\2to3\4in big and the tiger was about 1 1\2in. the watchman and the candy cane found each other in about 30sec. the goby was already in the tank for about 6months and then i got the pistol. as soon as the shrimp saw him he went right for him. the japanese was mean, it killed 2 fire gobies and ate some snails too. in a 365 it mite take a little bit for them to find each other but im sure they will. mine are always together. they hide in their tunnels all day. i only see them maybe 3-4 times a month. i thought they were dead until i saw them about a month later. i do see the pistol at night with a red light, he comes out looking for food. and the goby pokes his head out when its feeding time.

Well, your tank is big enough for two gobys but before you do that give them a change. Your pistol will start digging tunnels all over the place and chances are that goby will find him.

I've had my tiger pistol for a couple months now. Two days ago I added a wheeler's watchman goby. After 2 weeks in qt and acclimating the goby for an hour. I put the goby in as close to the pistol's burrow as I could. It took him about 5 minutes to make his way over to the burrow then he dissappeared into it. Then I started hearing the pistol popping. :eek1: The pistol shrimp is probly twice as big as the goby so I thought for sure I just fed him a $20 snack, but he poked his head out a few minutes later. The pistol has been coming out in the open more now. :D The goby hasn't moved from the entrance since he found it, except for the occasional quick dart out to snag some food out of the water colum. :)
