Hi guys :wavehand:
I'm currently planning my NPS tank it is going to roughly 500 liters including the sump. I'm looking for some input since there not many keeping nps corals in Australia yet.
I'm looking at adding a pipe fish only tank attached to system later on.

Skimmer-alpha 200 rated with or a ATB nano b with an airstar pump both rated 1000 liters
would these be to big for the system looking these since it would be a heavy bio load.
The dosing pump i decided on would be a GHL 4 pump stand alone
I will also be running carbon and seachem phosguard in reactors.
I will also be Dosing KZ start2 as a carbon source (I don't really trust bio pellets) and prodibio bacteria hybrid system
Let me what you think, what im missing, What you think would work better

Cheers

Rob

Hey Rob, good to see another local guy. Im half way through planning a full blown NPS setup with automatic feeding. Ive got the ATB Nano b on a 400lt system and its great!

What sort of flow system are you planning?

Hey mate
well I was wrong there's 2 of us. Mate how do u find the ATB skimmer? I am leaning towards the ATB mainly because of service they are always quick to help if problems occur.
My flow system (I'm assuming inside the tank) handled by 6105 in ramp mode and a vortech mp20 (when the thing stops breaking down on me) going anti clock wise. Still have not worked out how the auto feed is going to work yet plumbing wise. For the chilled stuff. The dry food will be dispensed by a auto feeder into a ring so the food doesn't go down the overflow straight away.
How about ur setup for dispensing food?

The ATB is really good, its been running now for about 12 months and hasn't missed a beat. I also have the airstar pump. Don't you love the vortechs, great pumps when they run but mine's the same, Im on wetside number 3 now however its lasted 12 months and still good so hopefully Im over that period with the pump :debi:

Im going to be running a small fridge and then dosing pumps inside the fridge, there is a few guys on here who have built them so will be borrowing their ideas :lmao: are you on RTAW?

Sweet I'm going to look at ATB then. My vortech has been nothin but trouble since i bought the bloody thing but that's another story.
I was looking into the fridge idea might see what i can pick up second hand
Trying to understand how plumb it to the tank though :hmm4:
Yeah mate I'm on the rtaw

Cheers

Hello Rob,
Any questions regarding the fridge plumbing, shoot me over a pm, and can walk you though. Can be inline with the return or set up seperately and run only when dosing the system.

Hi mike
Thanks mate just trying to pick up a second hand fridge at the moment then I will give u pm shortly I'm looking at just dosing into th return section then let pump circulate it to the tank instead of inline or do you think the return pump would destroy some off the food

Cheers

Hello Rob,

The return pump needs to be placed before the refrigerator so water is pushed through the refrigerator that is one of the main reasons the venturi valve was put in as a fail safe. You dont want to add the pump after the fridge pulling water through the line beacuse as you mentioned the food would get chopped up. Now this would not be that bad of a thing if the refrigerated system was going to be used for suspension feeders that would specifically need smaller feeds (fine polyp gorgonians, dendronephthya, etc). One of the reasons I prefer to have the two seperated (larger suspension feeders & smaller). Been working on planning out a live copepod dosing system but it still in early stages. Dont want the high nutrient water from the copepod tank getting back into the display so simple dosing/ drip system is not ideal.

hey Rob, can you PM me on MASA (I can't send PMs here yet). Want to have a chat about foods your planning on using in this tank :)

Hi mike sorry missed your post thanks for explanation I'm currently still looking at feeding options for the tank still. How have you found this system how long have you running it

Cheers

Rob
