Planning my tank

Hi all. New reefer here. I'm planning my tank out, and I want to do it right. I bought a Red Sea 650 and I'm working closely with my lfs to get it all set up properly.

Here's my challenge: I want to build a fairly advanced tank, in spite of the fact that it's my first tank. I am doing a significant amount of research, and my lfs guy will be coming by at least weekly for the first year. While i understand that it will take a few years to get the tank really established and going, I want to put together a plan that will serve to guide us toward the end goal. That's where I'd like help: putting together the plan.

I'd like mostly soft corals, an anemone, a couple clams, with a few stony corals mixed in. Have any of you out there had success mixing all these elements? Borne man says Sarcophyton are generally highly toxic. Are there any species that play nice with other octocorals?

Likewise, are there good examples of lps/sps corals that play nice with soft corals?

Finally, if we are careful with our lighting, water quality, and feeding regime (which we will be) is there any reason not to get an anemone once the tank is fairly well established?

Thank you in advance for the advice. To be clear: I'm not in a hurry to put actual creatures in the tank. I just want to create a plan for a mature tank that I can work toward.

I waited a year for my tank to settle, most think a tank cycles in a few weeks but there is a kind of second cycle that takes much longer. I also thought I could fine tune dosing, temp, saltinity and lighting, these things take time.

There's no reason you can't have all those in one tank. Some might not do so well right on top of each other, but given just a small bit of separation, they should be fine.
