Planning New System

Greetings all,

I finally got moved down here from NY and bought the house. Have a bit of remodeling to do before setting up the reef, but I'm planning it now.

The plan is for a 40 gal breeder, plumbed to the basement. In the basement will be 3 50 - 70 gal stock tanks (haven't decided exactly which ones yet) with one having a DSB and being plumbed in such a way as to take it offline if necessary. The tank will be a bare bottom sps with a couple lps.

Now here is the question for stocking this tank. I'm thinking of having a pair of true percs with a RBTA, a Coral Beauty and possibly a purple firefish. Does anybody see any problems with the stocking idea here or would it be too much for the space? Any and all comments are welcome and encouraged. Thanx

perks and Firefish will get along great. the coral beauty will harrass the clowns. i had those with a 6-line wrasse, together once. if you are going to breed the clowns, i would not want other fish in the aquarium, other than the Firefish. theyre so dosile i dont think it would bother clowns. good luck and REEF-ON!

Point well taken on the angel with the clowns. I'm not going to pursue the breeding of the clowns at this point, perhaps sometime in the future. So that brings me to what "show" fish would go well with the percs and still stay an appropriate size for a 40 breeder? I know the choices are severely limited. Thanx

Steve,

If considering the Centropyge angels, you might like Centropyge argi, the pygmy angel--peaceful, different swimmimg behavior than clowns and brightly colored.

Cheers,
Ben
