planning zoa/paly tank help wanted

I am looking to setup a zoa/Paly only tank and want everyone's opinion on what is the best or better setup for them. I want to keep it in the nano range and plan to use a rapid LED dimmable onyx fixture. I am an experienced reefer with many years under my belt, but I never was a big zoa fan until recently so any tips or tricks are highly appreciated. Also do any of you that have zoa dominate tanks dose anything or do water changes take care of it?

I dont do it for the zoas in specific but right now I use red sea ABC+, it is nice for smaller tanks(<50g) per red sea as it is an all in one mix, has all the elements balanced in the same ratios as in coral skeletons. I use this to maintain my cal/mag levels where I want (~400cal)

Otherwise twice a week I spot feed the zoas with plankton and roti.

I try to stay on top of 10% water changes per week but it goes 2 weeks sometimes and I havent had any adverse affects from this.

Thanks for the info. I'm used to dosing and water changes so that won't be a problem. Does any one have any input on the onyx fixture? I'm not really into LEDs but I won the fixture and figured I would try it. Does anyone run higher nutrients on there tanks? I keep my sps tank nutrients very low but I have heard zoa like heavier nutrients.

Assuming your switching from T5 or MH setup to the LED start them a little lower on the power to begin with and then you can raise it a bit as you go and the corals get used to it. LED's typically have a higher PAR value at the same range as other lighting sources, including HID's, so starting them at 50-60% power and then raising it over time to a brightness you like and the corals can handle seems to be the best method.

I really wish we could dispell the myth that zoas like more nutrients. They can tolerate more than say sps can but they by no means like it ime. Good water quality and good lighting is a must.
