plant help

I bought a painter' brush the other day and the outside blades are turning white. I think it is dying. Am I correct. What should I do and is it salvagable. It is in my new 12 aquapod nano tank with 9# of LS and 8#LR and RO water. I have not added any supplements since I started the tank.

I would submit a photo, but can't figure how to do it!!!

Talk to Bill King he will know for sure as I know he has them, but if I am not mistaken that is normal for the painters brush. BUT have no fear they are known to also send out shoots while the one you see is dying and then like a week or so later a new one will pop up somewhere else. I know Bills goes through a stage of die off and regrowth but they are popping out other places.

I think it is normal but I have not kept any myself.

thanks,

Rick

Your plant is surely "dying", at least the part you see. These plants & many others spread under the sand & send up new "plants". Let it alone & hope for the best.

Hopefully the plant you bought had a good sized ball of sand at its base. This is where the new shoots will come from.

Good luck

Bil

do I want to trim it back? Bill what do you consider a good size base (ball). It was not big at all, like an average size scallion.

That sounds fine.
Just let it alone, the "leaves" will drop & add to the substrate. If all goes well a new "plant" will appear somewhere else in the tank.

Good luck

Bill
