Plate coral on a frag plug

I picked up a nice green plate coral at a good price from the LFS. It was glued on a frag plug. It's been doing great for the last 3 weeks I've had it, but I've read that plate corals should not be a plug and they like to move around by inflating themselves.

Should I try to pop the frag plug off the bottom of the plate coral or just leave it as is?

Thanks,
Tom

I would remove it. I have a plate that is regenerating from a skeleton, when they got bigger I removed a few and tested frag plugs. It seemed that when glued, the skeleton does not grow as fast. Side by side the ones on the sand bed grew faster and seemed happier. I ended up popping it off and putting it on the sand bed. They inflate, move around a little bit and seem to right themselves when covered in sand. I think a frag plug would not help with this.
