Krafty.....I too have a long tentacle plate coral and I am not sure of the normal inflating/deflating process. She is inflated most of the time but late in the day and late, late at night she will deflate. I have read up on all that I can find on them, but there is not much on Heliofungus Actiformus....I have had her for about 2 weeks now and I think she is adjusting to my lighting ( (2)250W halides and (2) 110 VHOs). I just would like some one with success and past history with them to give me some feed back....thanks!

I recently got a short tentacle plate coral from the fish store and he did not open up for about 3 weeks after the purchase. Now the plate is fine and covering most of the sand bed.

mine does that same pattern. late in the day a short while before that lights go out it starts to deflate and then stays that way pretty much the entire night. ive had mine for maybe a lil over a year i think.

Good to hear.....I really like my Plate coral and want to make sure I am treating her right!....Do you feed yours bits of shrimp or other things....if so what is the best way. I placed some Mysis shrimp on mine and I couldn't tell if she took it in or not, but her mouth did close for quite a while....Thanks for your help.

i use to feed cylclopleze(sp) but havent feed anything in soom time. now when i feed my fish my plate will grab some of the fish food every now and then.
