Huh, the plate coral certainly looks quite strange, but the Euphyllias in the background look a bit odd too. What is the water chemistry like? What else is in the tank?

Strange indeed.

here is rest of tank these corals are bigger and better than ever except for plate water is great i have ref., prot. skimmer, calc. reactor, uv ster.,at least 15,000 dallor set up. sal is 1.025, temp 78, ph 8.1, kh 14, calc 480, mag 1400, and 0 nutrient feed many diff. foods and everything feeds on regular basis

Hmmm, which phosphate test kit are you using? Any chance of a double check on it? The filamentous algae visible on the tank walls and modest coralline algae growth leaves me suspicious phosphate is elevated.

salifert and api the algea is from light cycle when i go less on the halides the algea slacks off i like it on the sides lots of things eat it including the tangs for 5 1/2 months old i thought i had a lot of coraline its on all rocks some glass and in refugium. i dont get readings on any nutrients lfs confirms readings. i know i have only 6 months exp. but i spent much time on reasearch and a lot of money on the right equipment. the lack of exp. on corals is my problem i need more. can a coral get sick or have parasite is there treatments i can do for this coral.

Something is up. If the tank is 5.5 months old. When you compare the picture of your tank to what you see is anything off?

I ask because your Clams seem mighty colorless, as well as your leathers appearing faded. What appears to be elegance in the front right corner also appears to be shrinking and faded. When you got your livestock if it looked worse than it does now you need to find a new place for livestock as your buying animals that were probably half way to death.

Since you say things are growing and have improved then your doing the right thing. It's possible your plate is reacting to chemical warfare being released by another coral. Have you tried using carbon? If you haven't, then try for an observed improvement, remove it when you are satisfied with the results.

How are you treating your water for water changes? (R.O.? DI? get it straight from the backyard well?) Have you changed salt mixes?

With lights out how long does the frogspawn sweeper tentacles get, is it posssible they contact the plate coral?

You said you reduce the use of your halides. How old are the the lights and how does the tank look with them on?

These are a few of my thoughts based on the information, and photo's you have provided.
