my plate coral is staying closed and i cant figure out why. its been closed for about 3 days now. it still eats when i hold food right att he mouth and it doesnt seem to be losing color. it just sits there with about 5 tentacles out and thats it. any ideas on whats goin on? i checked my parameters and everything checked out good except my PH is a little low.

my acans, my cap and all of my zoos are still doing great. i just dont know whats goin on with my plate. :(

Is it on the substrate or rock? To much current? Crabs, or fish bothering it? Oh, and while I'm asking questions do you do body work on your own/home garage or just at the shop? ;)

its setting on the sand. its in medium flow (which has always seemed to make it happy before). i havent ever noticed anything bothering it. sometimes hermits will come try to steal its food though.

bodywork at the shop. i try to stay away from too much extra curricular. im only 21 and still learning :D

Oh, I just reread the first post. Is the low ph due to a low kh? If the coral was looking good before and just started acting this way try to think what you may have changed around in/with the tank, powerheads, light cycles, dif. chemicals, new livestock, stuff like that. It may have been an improvement but sometimes the change is enough to make corals respond unfavorably.

The only thing i can think of is that i had to move my frogspawn around a little cause it got knocked off of its perch but other than that i havent changed a thing.

Last night and today the plate seems to be getting over whatever was bothering it. i moved it over just a bit onto a new patch of sand. maybe it just needed a little more flow?
