playing with the camera...

Slave to the reef!
Took a bunch of shots tonight and had a couple turn out decent. I am having a hard time taking pictures of the corals near the top of the tank because the lights are so bright. All of my shots seem over exposed. Anyway, here are a couple that turned out.

Out of about 30 pics these are the ones that turned out decent.

Just thought i would share.

Just think how expensive it would be to take pictures if we didn't have digital cameras.

;)

That cyano is starting to get on my nerves, it can go away any day now. I guess it does make my tank look a little more purple.

LOL

Enjoy!

you have some great looking corals! I have a rainbow monti also, but the polyps on mine are mostly green, with a few orange'ish polyps. Are those all under the 400W MH lights? Mine are under T5's; about 8 inches below the surface. Just curious because i have been thinking about changing to 250W MH.

Those are awesome Jeremy! How old are some of them? That is some good growth for what I assume are young frags.

Well, usually when i buy or aquire frags they are bigger than the normal size frags you usually see for sale. The blue tenuis i got from some dude i bought live rock from, it just the base of the colony so all of those branches are a little over a year old. I am sure it would be a lot bigger by now but i just switched from 150's to 400's. The birdsnest was was a frag i won at the bruce carl meeting this spring I really can't believe how fast it grows.

Right now my bulbs are about a year and a half old, I am really hoping to sell some of this stuff at the swap so i can get new ones.

Nice pictures. I especially like the cap pic. What camera are you using?
Did you make any adjustments to white balance?

Thanks tibbs. I am using a Canon A610. AS far as white balance i am just using the underwater preset. I am however manually adjusting everything else.

I'll try and get a FTS later tonight....

A friend of mine is a "professional photographer" and has lenses you can take pictures of bacteria with. Should be able to get some pretty sweet coral shots with that one. I am going to have him come over one of these next couple weeks and get some real nice pics hopefully.
