Please be careful when buying / selling / meeting with strangers!

I won't post his name for fear of being banned. If you want to know just PM me. The worst part is that I know at least five people that were ripped by this guy. I wrote to a couple of the mods asking why the never kicked him off but I didn't get a response. People that posted about him were kicked off but he is still here. In fact the last time he had a group of his friends practically threaten violence last time. It's like they have a reef gang down there in SoCal.

why would you be banned for informing us of something so dangerous? i'd definately like to know so I don't go inviting him/her to my house to checkout corals! I'm sure everyone else would too.

Man sad sad stuff. Need to get to a point where you need to see a valid drivers license before letting anyone near you, or having a security cam on your stuff so you can have criminal/legal action taken.

Hey Matt, can you post the guys RC handle on the bareefers.org forums? The can't ban you for that, and it would be a service (and justice) to the rest of us!

Ah., nevermind, I see SWFanatic's thread link says it all.

I was actually surprised that someone I've traded with a few times insisted we meet at an Albertsons instead of at her home, but in reality, that makes sense.

And my wife usually calls me or has me along if she gets anything on craigslist. And I was always present when she interviewed roommates/renters back before we were married.

As an average sized guy I think I think less about personal safety than a smaller woman might. And my trusting suburban Canadian upbringing makes me not think about home invasions, etc. This thread is a sad, but realistic eye opener.

PS. Best burglary/home invasion deterrent is probably a dog.

Just read the thread SWFanatic posted. That will sum it all up. My fear of being banned comes from others getting banned before. There have been many threads about this guy. There is another guy to worry about in Sac. I was ripped by him too. I guess I am just too trusting. My main point is just be carefull. Don't assume anyone is honest. Even if you have dealt with them before. There may even be people that vouch for someone that is a scam artist. The one in Sac has lots of friends but I know of a few people that were ripped by him.

I avoided getting ripped of by someone else down in SoCal. We were set to do a trade. He said his Mom was coming up here for the day so I could just give the corals to her and she would give me his. I met her at a LFS. I gave her the corals and waited for mine. She didn't have any. I asked why she didn't have any and she said her son told her she was only supposed to take mine. I called him up and he said it was just a misunderstanding. He said he would bring mine up next time he was in the area. Why on earth would I give him my corals and just get mine when he felt like it? His mom went home empty handed. The guy continued trying to do a trade but I told him that I would never deal with him. He's on Frags.org and he has only good reviews but I am still glad I didn't give him the corals. I didn't want to be the one person that got ripped off.

Matt,
Post name of the guy in sac in the BAR forum. I sure all the member would like to know to be careful dealing with him.
