This is only my third time taking close ups. I'm still learning alot. I'm using a Nikon D60 with an 18-55mm lens. I bought a close up filter set lens magnification kit for 15 dollars. I used the 10x and 4x filters to take the pics. I also bought a cheap tripod (12 dollars) which helped tremendously. I'm still experimenting with f-stop and shutter speed. I took most of these pics at f22 with varying shutter speeds based on light. I really want a real macro lens but can't afford it right now. My biggest problem I'm having right now is I can't shoot close ups when the corals are more than about 6 inches away.

I sure can't find anything about them to critique. I think they look like great and they could be on the cover of a book. I do have a question though, what is this.

I'm guessing a feather duster, but when I zoomed in, it almost looked like a tiny jellyfish.

Thanks for the props.....I want to take better pictures than this and I still have lots to learn. Nice to hear people like the pics. That is some type of a feather duster you have circled. It is reddish in color and they just randomly pop up around my tank......

I have a few also, some reason that one made an optical illusion in my eyes. I see it now, but it sure threw me a curve ball at first.

Really good photos...a few could have been better by pulling back an inch or two, increasing your depth of field, and then recropping.

Ok cool. I didn't think of that. By pulling back do I get it more in focus and then by cropping it I can zoom it back in???
