Hi
I have in QT (for the past 3 weeks) 5 Chromis, I have been doing 2 x 20% water changes a week (new water RO/DI), the first pic is yesterday and the second today, can anyone point me in the right direction as to what the 'red' mark is on the head, last water change was yesterday. There is no ammonia using Salifert test kit. All other fish look ok and all are eating well.

I would say septicemia or bacterial infection. Probably bacterial. I think you are going to have to play the wait and see game for now.

Other than the way he looks all is fine he is eating well, with no signs of ill health.

What size QT tank is this?
FWIW....if chromis are not feed a little at least 3-4 times a day they tend to kill each other off.I had 3 in a 55 gallon at one time and one by one they started dying. They have a pecking order very muck like chickens. If there's not an abundance of food they will slowly kill the smallest/weakest until there is one survivor.
Happens all the time.

QT is 40L, they have been in there for 3 weeks with no problems, they are fed twice a day. Checked this morning and all is well, still has the mark but is eating well, I am going to transfer to DT in 2 weeks time if he recovers.
