I have a nano that I started neglecting and areas have been taken over. My snails nor hermits will touch it. An ID and suggestions for removal are appreciated.

Thanks!

My guess is some sort of Gracilaria. A herbivorous fish wuold probably take care of it in no time, but there arent tto many that would do well in a nano. Perhaps an urchin or emerald crab. Looks you could knock it back yourself pretty easily first.

My nano is 30g. I plan on buying a yellow tang for my 120g tank. Perhaps I'll make the purchase and house him in the nano for a short time to see if it's edible.

Yes, I can manually remove a lot but it grows back fairly quickly.

Any other id suggestions?

I was thinking some kind of Gracilaria too. Why don't you just put the tank in the 120 and feed it out of the nano? Some snails may eat it, I know abalone do for sure!
