Please help me with my Tyree Watermelon Chalice

I have a watermelon Chalice that has been in my tank for over a year now and been very happy and growing steady. Today I came home to find a snot looking slime all over the back side of the chalice. I pulled the chalice and dipped it thinking it may be the normal bacteria slime that I have heard of that attack some lps corals. Once I pulled the coral from the dip, I noticed that the entire back side of the chalise is now a skeleton.

Is there anything I can do to save this thing? The slime covered all of the green mouths, so there is a small bit of the pink center and green rim left.

Is it possible that it can recover?

Please help me if you can.

cut it how, where, with what?

The dip seems to have killed the slime, but I do not want to lose the chalice

Setec,

Try a dremel with a diamond wheel blade to cut off the dead part. The dip could have done it in. I have also had a very tiny piece with any fully recover and grow nicely.

Do not cut off any of the "eye's" if there are any left and do not dip it again.

Hope that helps.
