Please Help: Ricordias dying off in mass of brown mucous

Just three days ago this rock I have was full of these bright pink rics that would open up fully when the lights came on each day. Well, out of the blue, one of the ricordias was covered in this mass of brownish mucous the little bulbs on the ricordia had developed black/brown spots and within a day it looked as though it had pretty much up and dissolved away. The following day the ricordia next to it was doing the same thing and as of this morning there are two more that are being afflicted with this. I haven't checked my levels in about a week but they have always been just fine: Ca: 420, PO4: 0, Nitrates: 0, Alk: 6.7 (definitely low, but I'm working on bringing it up). I'll definitely check again today but in the meantime, is there any explanation you guys might have for why this is happening? Thanks!

Do you have any pics? Sounds like Brown Jelly disease by your description. I have never have a Ricordia affected by Brown Jelly disease. If it is Brown Jelly, it os very infectous. Any corals should be isolated into another tank. Try to bag the coral under water and not let the BJD float around the tank. You should be able to look up BJD for pics and reccomended treatments.

I agree...sounds like brown jelly. I lost half of my frogspaw to this...I just fragged and dipped in iodine...and it went away

From what I've researched, it is bjd. The ricordias were all lost so I just let the rock sit in a FW bath for a day or two and had to toss one sps that was losing flesh very quickly. I'm keeping a close eye on everything else and will do the iodine dip if anything looks suspicious.
