Please help with my overflow design

I am looking into designing a 280, but wanted some ideas on how the overflows should be.

I want it to be on the outside of the tank, but I don't what the dimensions should be.

Should the drains be 1.5" and returns 1"

Have a look at mine.Taking a thin amount off the surface water is the best bet for your overflow. Mine goes the whole length of the rear of the tank, it's designed to be in-wall. Depends on how you plan on displaying your tank.

My drains are 1.5". Your returns will probably depend on what you plan on using to pump it with and how much flow you want on the returns.

I saw your thread earlier and that was the idea I liked most. Will you use durso drains in those or is there not enough room? You have 4 drais?How are you going to do your returns?

The tank will be in the garage, so noise isn't an issue. May do durso's haven't decided yet.

I'll probably only be using 2 of the drains. Put the other holes there for returns so the plumbing doesn't have to go around the overflow.

Have a few ideas, but haven't made any final decisions as of yet.

Picking up the tank next Saturday.
