So I was enjoying my tank last night as all of us do and I was staring at a new orange colony I had picked up from LFS a couple of weeks ago. I stared closes and to my amazement I had a morphed polyp. It was a single polyp with a secong head stemming from the skirt. Upon closer inspection...yup, you guessed it. A nice little orange nudi. What was wierd is that the zoo wasn't closed up or aggrivated. I quickly took it out and inspected my other colonies. However, many of my colonies are growing on rocks I cant take out of my tank. I have over 25 colonies and it is very possible I might have missed one when I was removing them to look at them. I didn't see any eggs anywhere but again, it is very east to miss them. What are the odds that I had only 1 nudi in my tank that came from the LFS? All my colonies have been healthy and open, except for my one pink one that has dwindled down, but I have done many freshwater dips on them and nothing has ever come out. Should I still take all the colonies out that I can remove and freshwater dip them or should I just monitor to see if my colonies start closing up? Thanks for your help.

If you are home right now, I would log off and start dipping ASAP. In my opinion, there's no such thing as one nudi. Even if you removed the single solitary nudi in your tank, chances are the eggs have already been layed. If you have one nudi, you have more. Also, you have to contend with eggs that have yet to reach maturation. Once they do, you could have 30 to 40 juvi nudis just waiting to do more damage. I would begin the dipping and inspection process immediately. I would watch the tank daily for retracting polyps which is a result of nudi irritation. Also, when you turn on your lights, check the glass and every polyp in your tank as the nudis will scurry away and hide. Inspection is best with actinics only as it will highlight the whitish/opague eggs sacks thereby making them easier to find and remove. Good luck my friend.
