what kind of people eaters are these? I am fragging them up and selling some.. but I want to know what to call them.

Thanks

i think the top ones would be best described as "MPE's" for Miscelaneous People Eaters. theres a bunch of different people eater morphs out there with the white & green speckles. i would characterize the Chomelean People Eaters also under MPE, b/c the pic on zoaID doesnt show much detail to identify them accurately.

the bottom ones look like GPE's, Green People Eaters.

Sarno.. are your PE's look like this

I got this frag from a friend of mine. I believe he got this one for 20 bucks about 9 polyps ( the big rock was included)

i'm so confused. I saw one big rock at a lfs with 100+ polyps selling it for an incredible price. They labelled it as "brown alien eye". And yes the polyps have green splitted mouths just like my pic with no green skirts.

that would be marketing at its finest...

incredible price i meant very afforable under 60 bucks. I didn't even bargain with them yet. They always give me some discount. I will try to get it today if it's still available. I will post a pix tomorrow.

its pretty common to see large colonies of GPE's. i'd say $60 for 100polyps is not the best i've seen for GPE's, but prob about avg, and a good price. :)

the green slit mouth is a dead give away. and if you blown on the polyps to get them to close up, there are white streaks on the outside of the polyp.

these are classic characteristics of the protopaly/zoanthid gigantus

people eaters are a special common name given to only certain kinds of zoanthid gigantus that have that true green slit mouth that is very noticeable.

Here you go, I couldn't get the big piece but this one is for almost half of the price. I found it in their $39.99 coral tank. bargained down to $35.

The polyps not fully open yet since i only put them in my tank for 40 minutes. I will take another close-up pic tomorrow

Nice find N_Sarno. Im not realy into the PE just because they are so hard to find up here. so i cant help you with the names.

Its funny because I've had these for a long time and I didnt even know they were people eaters.. lol.. I was looking through some pics and I was like hey I have those!! So its pretty cool!

How old is that link dude?
The item has been removed.

These are the true GPE's.
( and they go for more than $60 per 15-20 polyps ;) at least mine do every time I sell a frag )

yup, those are awesome, where do you usually sell them?

Ebay, trading or selling in forums, local shops, local reefers ect ect... SLOW GROWERS though so my frags are usualy few and far betwene. :(

BTW the GPE's they have listed as GPE's on zoo-aid are actual green apple protopalythoas if we are gonna stick to this name thing.
LOL!!

LMAO Zoo-aid... is that like the Band-Aid world hunger concert in the 80's? They must be the zoas that morphed into a mix of Duran Duran, Madonna, and Micheal Jackson...

Hehehehe
