Would anyone be so kind as to id this coral, please.
Also, if you can give me some info on what kind of conditions it needs.

+1^ That goni does not look good. It's known as a tough coral to keep, and honestly yours might be too far gone.

What would you guys recommend I do? Less light?, Feed it? What kind of water conditions? Please help.

Gonipora's are very difficult to keep and most die within a year. From what I've seen and read they like fairly dirty water which is against everything we do to try and create the perfect balance in our water. What can help is to put them in a lower flow and med light area on the sand and keep them fed. Some people place them on the bottom right below where they feed their fish so the coral gets more food than other corals. Again there is no guarantee this will even keep them long term.

You also should do something about the algae that is growing not only in your tank but on that goni as well. The fact that you do have algae shows that you have a higher nutrient water and that is one thing that the gonipora likes. They do want some flow but not a lot, just a gentle swaying.

There is a member here I believe Webmanny that has had success with keeping them. Go to the LPS forum and look for threads on Gonipora.

I wish you luk.

you could try and save it, but honestly your efforts will probably prove to be fruitless. These corals are difficult to keep even when they come in decently healthy.
Yours is near death, bringing it back from that will prove to be an incredible challenge.

you could feed it with cyclopeeze and nls reef micro feeder. my goniopora like high light, high flow. i feed them only once in a long while so they don't really grow and stay the same size but they've been in my tank for over a year already(14 months). you need to keep the ideal reef tank water parameters though.

LOL and your experience is completely different from what most I've heard about keeping Gonipora. Just goes to show you that different things can work.

I just got a small green gonipora frag a week ago, I'm going to experiment with different placements. Right now it's on the sand bed in low light and low flow. Seems to be liking it so far.

This is also my experience with gonis. I did have one that withered away in the same conditions, only difference was that it was a wild specimen. The two others that I have which are thriving, are an ORA red and a neon green frag.
