looks like a war coral to me.

I've always thought the "War" coral was red with green centers. No exceptions.

It does look like an acan and it certainly eats like one i.e. 24 hours a day. Here's another image of the whole coral with feeder tentacles out.

don't think that's an echinata polyps are too distinct and raised. echinata are usually more fused flesh. Looks more like a favia but could be a micromussa

Since I started this thread I noticed that every single corolite is green in the centre so I think skp nailed it - it looks like a war coral (favites pentagona). Thanks for the help everyone.
