Hello Inverts forum!
A couple of months ago I picked up a porcelain anemone crab at Vivid and it's been happily living in one of my mini maxis. Never leaves it and when the anemone moved to another rock, it went with it.
Yesterday I picked up another one from a different store, moved my other mini maxi (much smaller and less bushy) to the opposite side of the tank, and placed the crab on it. It stuck around for a while but eventually moved to an encrusting duncan colony not too far away and seems pretty happy there. You can lead a crab to water...
Anyway, my question is about different types of crabs. I noticed in the store that the new one was much rounder, although the coloration is the same, but once in the tank and able to compare the two crabs I realized the new crab has much smaller pincers than the original crab, who has very large ones in comparison to body size.
I'm assuming they are different types of crabs? Or is there that much variation between them?
Thanks!
