PLEASE READ! Frag Swap info!!

As you may or may not know the GIRS annual FRAG SWAP is scheduled for October. The original plan was to have it in Davenport so our neighbors from the Rockford area could come as well. Basically, we are needing a person from the area to find us a banquet hall or something similar to hold it in.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a place? The only criteria really would be that it is easy to get to and find from any direction and is able to hold a couple hundred reef addicts. If someone could just reccomend some places I could take care of the booking.

The sooner we get a location booked, the sooner we can start planning the event. Keep in mind we will still need some volunteers to handle some minor things but lets got a spot picked first.

My parents live in Davenport and they are coming over tomorrow morning. My stepdad is pretty well connected in the Davenport area. I'll ask him if he has any ideas.

JB:that would be sweet man. I was going to just start calling places but being i don't know the area my knowing my luck we would have a place booked in the ghetto and no one would be able to find it.

the knights of columbus building is cheap and it's where the IAA has their events, check it out

The faimly mueseum has rooms we could possibly use...

Option #2, Many public schools are open, with enough time advance, to use facilities for groups like ours


Option #3, it would be weather dependent with temp. but we could take an outdoor shelter.

Knights of Columbus is booked solid for every weekend in October so that isn't going to work.

Schools would be an option except for the whole no smoking or drinking factor.

I think the weather is too unpredictable in October to have it outside.

I guess i could just start calling hotels.

the putnam idea seems cool and do we really need to have a place to smoke and drink?

I don't smoke and find it gross to hang out in smoke filled places and I like a beer as much as the next guy but if it means a suitably cheap location for the frag swap I'm ok with no drinking a beer at the frag swap.....

I have emailed the putnam so we'll see about getting in there. I have also called a few other halls but lots of them are booked already. I'm sure we will find something.

yep, we've got the knights of columbus, wouldn't me much of a matter to bring up sharing the location with the other board members, no reason our clubs can't work together just because you guys prefer flavored water over the plain stuff
