I just got this clownfish today from someone who takes extremely good care of his fish, and the water quality I'm sure is excellent. Please tell me what this is!

I don't think it is, but If this is ich, how long does it take another fish to catch it from this one? I don't have a quarintine tank or the money for one.. I would just bring it back to the guy..

No reason to QT once it has entered your tank. A new 10 gal tank and a sponge filter would cost less than $30.

Anyway, I favor trauma since it is along the lateral line. The tissue in this area isn't as soft as the belly and easily abraided. Its behavior will tell you what is going on though. Pay attention to the respirations/gills and compare it to the other clown, fish in the tank.

So your saying it has a cut or something along those lines? That's what I was thinking to..

It looks like a scrape from here. If it is, it should heal very fast - noticeable improvement by tomorrow night.
