plexiglass over tank

i have a pc of plexiglass (thin stuff) over my tank, theres a couple pcs cut out for feeding, just wondering if thats ok or should i take it off. only doing it to hold heat a little better because my tank is built into the wall.

The surface water of a tank is were the greatest O2 exchange occurs. Covering it reduces this significantly.
