Plumbing a tank with no overflow box

I have a 40 breeder with eurotop. The tank has two 1" drains, one about 2" higher then the other. I made the higher one my primary and the lower the emergency. Due to the thank having a eurobrace there is no way for me to access a overflow if I were to add one so that is out of the question.

My first design.

But too much water would drain into the sump if I had a full siphon and if I filled it just enough to cover it, the water level would be low.

So I turned it at a 90 degree. This caused water to be sucked down the pipe very very loudly. No matter how I turned the elbow the water level would raise or lower to suck in air. So I added a short air line hose which helped a little, the gargle noise wasn't constant only every 30 secs. I added another elbow which helped more but it was ugly and still made noise.

I then added a reverse durso in the sump which helped a good bit. After playing around with it. I got a bigger air line hose and ran it about 1-1.5ft through the pipes this helped. I then turned my emergency overflow at a 45 degree so some water would flow through it. This raised the water level higher then the primary overflow which now keeps the drain from sucking air into it. Now the only problem I am having is you can hear a whooshing noise from the airline tube. If I blow into the tube till bubbles come out of the overflow inside the tank it runs dead silent for 5 mins then the noise starts coming back.

Heres some pics of the set up.

My last two ideas are get a longer air hose and try to get it to go almost to the sump or try and turn the 90 upwards and act as an overflow. Or switching the lower pipe to be my main and set up a durso style. have the 90 face upward then have a t with the top having a cap and another 90 out the middle hole facing downwards.

Help would be appreciated. Trying to get it as quiet as I can.
