plumbing an RODI through the wall

We are currently remodeling the kitchen. This happened to us because we wanted an RODI for drinking/fish water. :rolleye1:

Has anyone plumbed a line from their RODI to the tank running it through a wall? It would be a run of at least 20 feet with a spigot coming out of the wall behind the tank. Our cabinets are out but we would have to notch through the drywall.

lots to consider here. My first instinct would be to get the right fittings or connections so that you could plumb it into a rigid PVC pipe. But depending on your elevations and water pressure that could create problems w/ inadequate pressure.

If you do plumb a thin flex line, take all possible measures to prevent crimping, pulling, etc. You might even consider running the flex line through some sort of protective sleeve, such as PVC pipe.

i have done this in 2 houses. I used the harder RODI tubing, 1/4" perhaps. I put a shutoff valve at the point where it enters the wall, and another where it exits the wall. It goes over a hallway at one point, no issues with pressure at all. Probably a 30' run. I currently have a 3 way splitter on my RODI, one going to the tank, and one each to the water tanks. None has a problem with pressure.

Glad to hear that it worked for you.

How about tying in the fridge? We want a line to the tank, one to a mixing vessel, and one for the RO to go to the ice maker/water dispenser.
