considering building a plywood tank this summer dimensions would be

72lx24wx36t coming out at 269 gallons

I have a bit of experience doing fiberglassing helping a friend doing some custom car work but honestly dont have a lot of know how about the diffrent products

he has a lot of experience with the product and i trust his judgement but he has no aquarium experiance and that is why i am asking here

we are talking about using vinylester resin and glass to do the entire interior of the tank and then using a epoxy paint or primer for the final coats to seal it up, my thought is glassing it will provide me with strength vs just using the plywood and epoxy paint like i have seen with other tanks

my questions are this do u forsee any problems with the vinylester resin, my initial plan was polyester cause it is the cheapest but then learned from my firend it leached styrene but apparantly vinylester leaches nothing, epoxy resin is obviously the best choice but it exceeds what i want to spend on this project

Now dont I feel like an idiot instead of jsut glancing thru the big my first plywood project thread i started actually looking and noticed he used west systmes epoxy something i have used in the past on cars so he built his almost how i want to build mine except i was thinking of adding fiberglass sheeting to everything for added structure and instead of epoxy using vinyl ester

Wests is good i think. I have a 450. holds great and I love it. I would definately do a plywood tank again.

If you want to see my tank search "Kent's 450 plywood" and it will come up.
