Meeting Update:
PMASI members will be doing a sand swap this Saturday October 16th during the meeting, featuring Adam Cesnales giving a fantastic refugium lecture. The premise of the sand swap is to help each other increase biodiversity in our sand beds. The condition is simple: bring a cup of sand, get a cup of sand. We'll mix the contributions in a tub to ameliorate the fauna, so to speak. Then we give participant their donated measure back from the new sand mix PLUS some added freebies (a variety of live-bearing sand seastars, Nassarid snails and other mollusks and more!). Each member will go home with more than they came with So, please...participate and bring some sand!"
Speaker: Adam Cesnales
Topic: Refugiums
Notes: This talk discusses how to design refugia to optimize performance to meet specific goals for the system. Various options for plant and animal life are discussed along with design and engineering considerations.
