PNG percula

So, I was at my LFS today and they had Eco Aquariums PNG perculas in stock. These things are freaking incredible. It is eating everything... even in the LFS plastic bag before I put them in the tank.

Pictures to come

The fish is tag: 009848

Awesome! I'll pass the word along

Dan Navin, owner of Ecoaquariums PNG, is a good friend of mine. This has been his dream since we were both lowly fish-baggers at That Fish Place.

In fact, if you've been a long-time customer of TFP, you've probably met Dan. He worked there for probably close to 10 years.

Have you seen the PNG zoanthids available from unique corals? They're pretty cool, I'm hoping to pick some up if/when they arrive locally.

Eco's Response: "Awesome! So glad to hear that our fish are doing well and are being well received! It makes all the hard work and extra effort well worth it! Fish 9848 was collected by this guy: Gia Laka

I used to work there back in 2009. I dont know if I remember either of you. Perhaps by face I would. I've been in the hobby since 07.

We were both in Iraq by that time. I haven't worked there since 2003, before cory (corey?) was a supervisor, and, Dan hasn't been there since 2008ish.

Awaiting pics as well :)

This fish was truly jaw-dropping. I had to have her. It has to be a her. I cannot imagine a female perc out there that is capable of being bigger than this fish. I have been away for two days and I can't wait to see her.

So, this thing may have ICH. Catching it may not be difficult BUT the other fish might be afflicted as well. I have a true perc and a clown goby. That might be the hardest one to catch. Any suggestions?

I'm sorry to hear that. Check this site out before treatment. It's a good resource for diagnosing common clownfish diseases.

Common Clownfish Diseases

I just bought an ocellaris from Petco this past weekend and it has a bunch of pimple-like bumps all over it, but the fish is acting fine, eating, swimming, etc. This site says it's probably just from running into things (quite possible, I have an mp10 in my 10g nano), but unnerving nonetheless.

If it is ich, soak food in selcon/garlic, try FW dip, remove and treat in a QT, there are a number of different things to try. Good luck, and keep us posted.

FW dips do not appear to work for Ich. The parasite is actually burrowed into the skin of the animal. The white is actually scar tissue.

I posted a video.

Greg, please let Dan Navin know that his fish are truly special. This incident with Ich should not go against their operation in PNG. All fish should be quarantined no matter how healthy they appear to be. This just goes to show you how ignorant people like myself can be in this hobby. :deadhorse:
