Pocillaporas slowly dying from the inside out :(

I'm not sure what's going on with them, but for the last month it seems my raspberry pocillapora and a green poc. I have, have been slowly dying from the inside of the colony outwards :( It's so odd because they were some of my best growers and looked fabulous! Other sps seems to be fine. Parameters have not changed, everything in the good range, no nitrates, etc.....

Any ideas anyone? Any way I can save what's left?
 
Well, the whole colony is about the size of a golfball (both colonies). Maybe that's the case w/ the raspberry, but the green poc. looks like it's on it's way out, so I'm just assuming the rasp. may be following suit :(
 
I have 3 modded Tunze 6025's in a 75. w/ a lot of rock. The rasp. poc. probably gets a bit more flow than the green one and does look better. The thing that I don't understand, is that the green poc seemed to thrive for maybe the first 6 mo I had it. The conditions were the same for the most part, although I had to move the angles of the Tunzes when I rearranged some rockwork. Could it be just flow that's doing it? They are 2 of my favorites and I don't want to lose them........
 
Alot of times when they go from the inside out it is lack of flow,and lack of a food souce. On thick braches like the pocci and stylos have they need to be blasted by flow to help food get in there and to help blast away waste from the coral.
 
I'm having something similar happen to an ORA Blue Bottle Brush..........The tips receiving most of the light are growing and looking great, but the bottom base part is dying away. Could this really be from flow?
 
Could be flow but the bottle brush coral is a much thinner branch coral then the pocci so the flow dosnt need to be as much with it. I would check all your water parm. make sure nothing has changed, and go from there.
 
I suspect the recession may have been going on ever since I acquired the piece, but it is definitely noticeable now. Interestingly enough, two days before I really noticed the recession I did a 10g water change (70g total volume). I also started dosing kalk in my top off two weeks ago. As a result I have been monitoring my parameters pretty closely. Before the Kalk I was dosing only two part..................so for the time being I will go back to two part and see what happens.

I dipped the piece in Kent Tech D.............looked like there could be AEFW, but don't think so given the rapid progression over the past few days.

Any other treatments I should try?
 
Mine did the same thing. Do you have a host crab in the colony? Once I dispatched the crab, that seemed to have helped. However, I do have some die off deep in the colony where the light doesn't hit it.
 
no host crab...........I would say it is still frag size, not really a colony yet so I'm not sure how much light and flow are the issue. However, it was under almost nothing but VHO actinics at the LFS and it is now under nothing but 400W MH...........diffuse versus direct lighting.
 
Do you have the frag low it might be to much light if you just got it not to long ago, i would put it low in the sand for alittle while to see if helps to heal. Also make sure all your parm. are good.
 
Right now it is between low to middle in the tank. Interestingly enough, the tips are vibrant and appear to have grown in the few weeks I've had it, but the base is dying off in large interconnected patches..................if its a parasite hopefully the tip took care of it.
