I posted this in my tank thread but thought I could get some answers here....

Got my seperate pod/rotifer propogation tank going.....I am using this to seed pods weekly to my rockwork in Main Display tank, and to gutload rotifers for Main Display Feeding.

So far so good, not quite sure how to filter this tank, (Any input or advice in this category would be greatly appreciated) so for now, I have about 5 lbs. of cured live rock rubble and an airstone to aerate and move water around. So far, no tank crash and water params seem pretty good, even after heavy feedings of live phyto from my phyto culture station.
Pod populations are exploding....

Here is a sample POD VIDEO CLIP
of young pods clinging to their parent.

Anyone have any links or references to pod identification......It was very interesting to learn that some pods (this one in particular) not only carry their eggs but also carry their live young to a certain point......

Edit: No pods were harmed during the making of this film....

The only person that I know that would be able to Identify copepods would be Dr. Ron Shimek. He's located at the Marine Depot forums if you would like to contact him. FWIW, it looks like your basic Copepod. Personally, I would actually add more rock in your culturing tank. It would give the Copepods more places and surface area to hide and reproduce.

Still trying to figure out how to calibrate my Microscope..I have the software for it......just gotta just do it.....I have a slide with the measurements to calibrate the scope....but can't figure out how to do it as of yet....I know size is very important for Pod identification.....will get on it....
This is just one of the many different Pods that I am trying to identify...as I know that some are more beneficial than others as far as food sources and as actual detritus eaters....I don't want to breed a bunch of the wrong pods.

Here is a pod that I believe is more important as a food source...I usually see these crawling all over my rocks and I see my Sixline eating these all the time. Can anyone idendtify this one? This one is about three times larger than the other one above....aprox. 1mm in length...looks as though it has been eating pretty well.....
