caulerpa racemosa or prolifera are usually one the fastest growers. Some macroalgae do store excessive nitrate in their tissues but I generally find that my racemosa reduces my nutrients to zero.
In my opinion caulerpa reduces the most but chaeto does just as well at reducing nitrates and does not go sexual. When caulerpa goes sexual it puts toxins in your water there for degrading it so its kind of a trade off toxins for nitrates. There are ways to aviod it going sexual but I just use chaeto.
