How do you stop polyps that were on a bunch of live rock I bought a while back from taking over the tank?

They keep spreading and has taken over almost half of the rock in my 15 gal tank!!!!

the polyps grew from a few scattered on a some live rock about 9 months ago.....what other corals need the same conditions or will compete with the polyps?

If I place other soft corals near the polyps will they keep them in check or will they get over run? any suggestions??
