Well, at least they ID'ed the issue. It can now be rectified and hopefully we'll see an increase in the coral population over time.

they say that updated sewer treatment facilities have already had a positive effect on the coral (no more documented cases where system was updated in 2001) Now, they just need to make sure sewage treatment plants get a move on and fix their systems!

That really is an amazing study. We've apparently just discovered the first human disease to kill a "lower" invertebrate. Kudos to the scientists pinpointing this.
