Porcupine puffer

i just bought a porcupine puffer 2 days ago. he is only 4 inches and seems to be doing fine. i have 30 hermits in the tank for him to eat. i have been feeding the tank mysis shrimp and emerald entree. he is not touching the mysis or any food i put in. i have seen him try to eat the hermits however he can not seem to get the hermit before it goes into its shell. is there any other ways to try to get him to start eating?
