I have these small green polyps that just showed up a few months ago on a piece of coral. They looked kind of cool but had never seen them before. I was watching a video on youtube yesterday and saw something like these and the video said they were a pest. If they are a pest what is the best way to get rid of them?

I would watch them. Do they grow from a mat like zoas? Or just pop up random places. I had some palys that would pop up in random places and yes they became a nuisance. They even popped up in the middle of a mat of gsp. Aiptasia x would kill them but they reproduced faster than I could kill em without nuking the tank. I would take the rock out and chip them off if they start spreaing fast.

To be honest I have not touched them or looked under them. I had no idea what a majano was till now. I am going to look up majano on google and see

Oh boy yes thats what I have. To bad i kind of liked the way they looked. Google says they are green to brown and I know my pics dont show it but they are a pretty bright green. The looked like a nice big paly. Funny thing is they did kill the little coral that was on that rock which I didnt notice. It was a freebee so I never payed atention to it. I am glad they are not spreading. I think I have 6 of them and I know I saw the first one about 4 months agao so at least I can take care of it now. I also saw where they use kalk paste to get rid of them. Any one else have sugestions?

With any of the remedies you have to make sure you kill all of the tissue or they will just grow back. I have use the majanowand.com with pretty good success.

Some Majanos are quite colorful. The cheapest and easiest way to kill them is with Kalk paste. Mix up some Kalkwasser powder (pickling lime) to the thickest solution you can push through a syringe (without a needle). Turn off your pumps and smother the polyps with the paste for about 20-30 min. Siphon out the sludge and dead anemone and power the pumps back up. They are not as nasty as Aiptasia in terms of reproductive capability. If you don't melt the whole anemone, it will at least be so stunned that you can easily pry or scrape the remains off the rock.
