Hello -

I'm just checking for a positive ID that what's growing in my tank is diatoms, and algae typical to a new tank after an upgrade. The majority of the diatoms (I assume) is on a new piece of dry rock purchased from BRS. The sand was all new as well. Tank was upgraded at the end of September.

I'm also getting a new carbon/GFO reactor and am hoping that will also help with phosphate control.

Thanks!

Tank is 100 gallon/30 gallon sump
Phosphates near zero
Nitrate 5-10
Amonia 0
Nitrite 0
Salinity 1.025
Temp 78

Yes on the RO/DI. I don't have a TDS though, and I have new cartridge refills on the way as its been about a year since they've been changed out.

Chances are that it's the old filters in your RODI. Do a few 20% water changes over the next couple of weeks, and you should see it start to subside. Also, make sure you have good flow, and blow off your rocks if need be...
