Thinking of upgrading my skimmer already. Want to get a feel for any interest.I have only had this BM CS5.5 for about 1-1.5 MONTHS. Unit has worked really well so far pulled stinky skimmate just a week after setting up. I just feel I will need a larger rated skimmer as I am already pushing my bio load limits and still want to add one or two more fish. Goes for $170-$200 online, I would like to get $150 for it. I also have a couple of skimmer bodies I could throw in the deal. I will add pics later. Here is the link for specs.

Thanks,

How big is your tank?
I have a vertex skimmer and it is quite stable :)
I found that my EuroReef was able to pull out thicker/ almost solid skimmate..quite disgusting really lol.

I also have a 90 :)
I'm currently using the Vertex Omega 150
Have you looked into any skimmers yet? For a 90 I think you should get a skimmer with a body thats at least 6 inches diameter. I would assume the Bubble Magus is 5.5 inches lol.

Was your cup filling up too fast or what? Also if you're looking for a good skimmer for your size tank it would probably be $300+
The bigger Bubble Magus might work too its a lot cheaper than the other ones since I last checked!

I haven't had any issues with the skimmer just think it is a little under rated? I found a deal online for the BM nac 6 so i thought i could just trade up. My other issue (actually main issue) is sump size my cabinet currently only uses one side for filtration so it's about 24 inches wide. I can barely fit the 5.5 in there now. The 6 actually seems to have a smaller footprint.

I'm really just looking at what is rated for i think 90-135 gallons. Then of course you read that you can pretty much cut that rating in half. Like i said it has skimmed like a champ, the bubbles produced in the reaction chamber are almost exciting to watch. If you think that's adequate Tony ill probably stick with it. Thanks for your input guys.

With a 5.5 inch body its good enough, but if you can find one that has a 6 inch body and can fit in your sump it'll be better. I think I've seen some nice low profile skimmers, I'll look again and get you links :)

James I really wanted the AquaMaxx skimmers as well, but I couldn't get one :P
Also they'll probably be too big for IrishTang's sump..

Here are some that might work for you

Skimz Monzter SM161
Reef Octopus Classic 160 or XS-160
Vertex Omega 180i
AquaMaxx ConeS-1

Or you just keep yours..If you can get a bigger skimmer in I would go with the AquaMaxx ConeS-2.
