Hey everyone,
I've been in the hobby for about 15 years, and will be moving to Lower Macungie in the next month. I am looking forward to joining the club if I am close enough, as I'd like to be connected in the area with other reefers and make some friends in my new home. Where is the club based out of? I'm currently a middle school science teacher in Baltimore City and looking into teaching in PA or possibly going back to Environmental Consulting, it all depends on what I can find and how fast my certification transfers.

I'm coming from Baltimore where it is really easy to find information about the water. I am having trouble finding information of what Lower Macungie water supply adds to their water, so that I can appropriately plan my RODI setup that I will be purchasing shortly. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I'm hoping this will be a club like we used to have down here in B-more, where people are very helpful, friendly and fun. Look forward to meeting you all.

Thanks,
Brandon

IMO the biggest difference between NCPARS/RCS and other clubs I've meandered around and lost interest in is that this clubs is more "general community" in nature rather than the "general meeting" type. In other words we have about 3 swaps a year where we actually gather, meet, trade and maybe watch a lecture, rather than bi-weekly or monthly meetings where people get together out of a sense of..."Well...this is club, so I guess we should meet." The internet thankfully changed those old ways and I'm not sure how many clubs even still operate like that but I can tell you...this ain't one of them. :)

We have people operating different aspects of the club all over the state as well as participants in neighboring states so there really is no place that we're "based out of". Lately we've done 2 swaps a year at ThatFishPlace in Lanscaster and the 3rd swap in Williamsport or State College and other places all over the state.

I personally live in the Reading, PA area and there are a bunch of us in this general vicinity but we're far FAR from the "base" although the club was first formed by folks in the Reading and Hegins, PA area and further north along with folks from State College. Hence the generic "North Central PA" title which I tried for YEARS to get changed while I was in office. Thankfully we're now RCS which makes a WHOLE lot more sense to me. :)

Anyway....welcome to the society. Be sure to check out http://www.reefconservationsociety.org/ to read up on the school tanks project to give you and idea of where people are and also check out the links at the bottom of the home page for other places to go. Since I run one of the websites I can't mention it here. :)

Thanks for the reply, looking forward to meeting new people and getting situated in a new area. Definitely going to have my eye open for places to look, I've actually been looking for new places in the area, and I am looking forward to finding a new group of people to share my hobby with. The school projects sound interesting since I'm a teacher, and have been trying to figure out the PA school systems. Shoot me a PM if you have a chance and I'll make sure to check out your site.
