i have a chance to buy a 150 gal , but the tank has a leak, how hard is it to fix the leak without completely caking silicone everywhere(the leak is under a silicone seam) also, how much is the tank worth leaking?

I have not done this, but from what I understand there is no way to repair the seal. Silicone will not stick very well to silicone. From what I understand, the only way to fix things is to remove all of the current silicone along the whole panel and re-silicone the entire thing.

Another thing to consider is even if you do fix it you may always still have a lingering worry in the back of your mind that you could come home one day to 150 gallons of water on the floor.

I have resealed 2 of my previous tanks...an older 55 slatebottom and a real old 135. (when they still made them out of 3/4" glass)..It may seem easy..but you have to take into account the amount of water-pressure that those seems are holding in. ONE weakspot and you have at the best a leak, at the worst...ALOT of water on your floor. Personally...I would rather just buy a new tank...the piece of mind is priceless..
