Potential Stock List

Hey everyone! I am new to this forum but I was just wondering if anyone could give me their opinion on the stocking list I have made for my 55g softy reef.

2 percula clowns (have)
1 yellow-tailed damsel (have)
1 seagrass wrasse
1 mystery wrasse
1 copperband butterfly

I am running a Fluval 305, Coralife Slimmer 65, and about 60lbs of liverock. I am doing 5g water changes once every 2 weeks (sometimes more often). I am also aware that Copperbands are not necessarily reef safe but from what I have read most dont pick at corals and rarely ever soft corals. I'm willing to give it a shot :)

Any opinions would be appreciated!

The Sea Grass wrasse might be a little much. They can get pretty big and will likely eat your snails/hermits if you want that kind of stuff. If you get a CBB make sure it is eating prepared food. They usually starve. There is a sticky topic on them in the reef fish section.

Damsel

Damsel

Give the damsel to someone you don't like...

I agree with the previous answer about the wrasses...

How about a pair of Royal Gramma, some type of sand sifting goby, and/or a pair of Pajama Cardinalfish.

Alright thanks for the replies guys. I didnt know that the seagrass would get large enough to eat me cuc haha I think I will scratch that idea.

And for the CB, I actually work part time at a LFS so I will for sure be able to pick a specimen that is eating well since I am the one who watches them all the way from unpacking to sale :)

I will be keeping the damsel though. It was my first fish and survived all my clasic newbie mistakes. It is currently in my 38 fowlr and will be the LAST fish in the 55 to deture any aggression.

As for a substitute for the the seagrass, what about a dragon goby? There is a nice 3.5in one for sale at work and I hear they sift sand which might be good as I currently have algea growing in patches on my sand.

If it was me, I'd keep him in the FOWLR and add a grouper to that tank...

Can you tell I don't like any damsel? (except ocellaris clowns, which are part of the damsel family)

I can't say I've ever heard of or seen a dragon goby... don't know if they're a sand sifter or not. You can usually tell a sand sifter as their jaws are usually bigger than their body...

Anyway, good luck.

The dragon gobies are supposed to be great sand sifters. Every dragon goby I have ever seen in a LFS was busy cleaning the sand.

Sounds good, so does that list sound alright with the addition of the dragon goby and no sea grass wrasse? I think that will give the tank lost of variety in color, body shape, and movement and since the damsel is going in last, low aggresion.

Also will the mystery wrasse be alright with ornamental shrimp?
